You choose an Ecoboost V6? 1934 Ford priced at $139,000. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Makes a change from the usual LT1. Which isn't to say better.

I’d probably gone for a 2.3 Ecoboost if I’m honest.

LT1?
Try ZZ4. Or 350HO.

Built by Ford (via Detroit Speed Rods and Experi-Metal) to showcase the new Ecoboost V6, it has 400hp and a manual transmission. This was there SEMA 2009 car. Don’t hate. It was the first RWD application of the Ecoboost V6 as well. It’s a factory hot rod.

I approve

LT1. Which is a 350HO.

Or a smog era 350 from a pickup that was rebuilt using all stock components. Then tell everybody its a Vette motor and makes 500hp.

Huh?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 13:47 |

Throw $2000 of Lokar goodies at a $300 motor. BOOM.

Haha, 2k at Lokar will get you a chrome dipstick, valve covers, and air cleaner.....So yeah your correct hehe.

Don’t forget the billet aluminum alternator pulley.

LT1:
1st-gen small block 350HO.
2nd-gen small block MPFI 350, or 5.7L.
5th-gen small block 6.2L, as used in the current Stingray.

I love this stuff. I’d love to put in a DoD V8 into a hot rod like this as well. All the benefits of tons of power with the cylinder deactivation when you’re just cruising.
Modern hot rodding as it should be.

Is there some old 70’s definition of 350HO I’m not aware of?
The first gen LT-1 is not close to the 350HO of the past, I dunno, 20 years or so.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 14:05 |

1st-gen is the 70’s 350. I think I finally get what you’re saying though—are you talking the crate motor designations?
And second... The 1st-gen's are still being built in Mexico for this exact purpose, afaik. The carb'd crate motors are 1st-gen's, no?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 14:08 |

Yes and yes. The 350HO is a 330hp crate motor, hecho in Mexico . One is at every cruise night in America.
I was/am confused since the gen 1 LT1/LT-1 designation isn’t normally used to describe anything other than the solid lifter 70-72 engine.

Dont forget about this guy.
Gen II sbc, 10.5:1 compression, reverse flow coolant, aluminum head and intake.
I have one in one of my DDs, great motor. Optipsark is a bit goofy, but they are hit or miss. Never had a single issue with mine.

Not forgetting :) Check my other comment. LT1’s in Gens 1,2 and 5.
What was yours in?

If your talking opti spark era LT-1 that phase of hot rodding died in the early 2000’s. You rarely see a LT-1 in a street Rod unless it's an old build.

Would you rather have a GM Iron Duke 4 cyl?

There are 3 LT1’s. Gen 1, 2 and 5 Small block. Most common is the Gen 1, though it's now the 350HO or ZZ4 crate motor.

yes a v8 would probably sound better, but he after so many v8 hotrods its cool to see something different. A+ from me, looks good, no gaudy custom wheels or paint, almost like what you’d see back in the day (you know, the days before most of us were born)
